Dry run for banks, ATMs triggers cash crisis

SHONAAM  TABRI DADA ITANAGAR, Apr 17: Along with various other parts of the country, the post- demonetization  scenario has revisited the Capital Complex and adjoining areas with ATMs, primarily those of SBI, going ‘cashless’ to compound the misery of the people. ATMs in Itanagar, Naharlagun, NERIST and Doimukh have rarely dispensed cash for a month despite claims by officials that there is no cash crunch in the State and elsewhere in the country. People waiting at ATM for cash to be deposited by the bank officials . Water treatment plant to quench Changlang’s thirst

Shonaam TABRI DADA CHANGLANG, Apr 13: Six days after The Arunachal Pioneer highlighted the acute scarcity of water, the Changlang district headquarters continues to b e thirsty with the district administration and PHE seemingly unmoved. PIC: Ravi Kumar On Thursday, local MLA Tesam Pongte attributed the drinking water scarcity to an unfinished water treatment plant (WTP) as well as the damage to the pipelines after a bridge collapsed. Work on the WTP is is progress, and the water problem will be solved in a couple of days, he said. The district has always had water problem since its creation in the 1970s. “WTP will reduce the crisis to a great extent,” Pongte said, urging the people to be wary of water-borne diseases with the monsoon approaching. “ I have asked Chief Minister Pema Khandu to visit Changlang by May for the inauguration of various completed projects.
