ITANAGAR, Sept 06: It is said that kindness is the language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see. This kindness and love from her family, teachers and friends has helped Kipa Nikham reach the top 12 of singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma 2018 in Mumbai.
Nikham is the only one representing the State in the show this year. She will be leaving for Mumbai on September 8 from Guwahati for the audition. Differently-abled, she has the dream to be the winner of the show and make the state proud.
Her father Kipa Kame and mother Kipa Sangtey reside at Sango village of Phassang Circle in Kurung Kumey district.
She participated in singing competitions at State levels and won recognition during Statehood Day in 2013 and 2015. She started her stage audition from Arunachal Got Talent – 2013 (AGT) and then Arunachal Idol-2015.
Nikham is currently staying at Donyi Polo Hearing Impaired School at Chimpu, Itanagar. Singing both in male and female voice has made her different from the other singers.
“I was supposed to be in Guwahati on August 14 for the audition but due to miscommunication I could not attend. But now I am very lucky to be selected through online audition,” Likham told The Aruanchal Pioneer.
It was when she posted her video on Instagram that one of the judges of the show, Mika Singh called her up for the live audition again from Kolkata. “At that time my selection was not disclosed by the judges,” she said.
There was an audition in Shillong on August 17 and on August 20 in Kolkata. “I was very happy to know that skipping both rounds I was called directly to Banglore for the level four round of audition,” she said.
“Though I was nervous at the Banglore audition, my heart said I can make it. My intuition became reality when I was placed among the top 12 competitors for the challenging Mumbai auditions,” Nikham said.
Seeking support from the people of the State for his future endeavours, Nikham said that she was very much inspired by her seniors in the institute and a teacher, Pura Yallo guided at every stage of singing.
“I am from the remotest corner of the State and without any professional coaching in singing making to the national level singing reality show is indeed a matter of pride for me,” she said.
She also said that the earlier auditions will be telecast on September 8 and the show will kick off from September 9.
